   Somewhat underwhelming given the author is a Nobel prize winning author. The parts of the book I found really interesting, such as the experience of being a refugee in the UK or a student in East Germany, had the least coverage. The loss of the house in Zanzibar was dealt with in interminable detail. Probably worth reading some of his other works.

   We have read a number of books from Nobel Prize winners and for the most part they have been disappointing and this rather dull, pointless read was no exception. As the prize is given to a writer’s body of work, he must have produced better books although I doubt we will be rushing to find out.
