Excellent read – this is the second book by Kazuo Ishiguro that has rightfully made it into our list of highest scoring books

  2. Mr Orange says:

Another great book by Ishiguro. His simple, straightforward style makes this work accessible to even the most hardened sci-fi sceptics. He makes you care about the fate of Klara even though she/it is effectively a robot. There is a lot of Philip K Dick and Kurt Vonnegut here – real vs artificial, decaying societies, class struggles, etc. – and, like them, Ishiguro proves that sci-fi is not just rocket ships and bug-eyed monsters, it can also be great literature.
