A book to divide the club – a strange tale where a man’s life can hinge on a snowball strike. One area of consensus was that nobody had a clue what it was actually about.
Cocteau was a much better film director than author. His illustrations are also quite poor and add little to this novella.
Classic and very atmospheric, rather edgy and troubling novella; I thought more highly of it than some of the other book club members did.
