I didn’t enjoy this as much as Cloud Atlas. Mitchell is a clever, interesting writer with a touch of magic realism about him but this story is not worthy of his attention – it’s all a bit shallow and tricksy.

Having just written a scathing comment on Looking for Alaska it is only right for me to comment next on this book. It is the counterbalance that shows it is possible to write well about adolescence. Definitely worth a read.
