    I am not a fan of Amis generally but this is his masterpiece. This is rightly praised as the best novel about the excesses of the 1980’s – at times both funny and repulsive.

    Terrific book with some very funny parts. It isn’t an easy read as Amis sometimes makes the thread of events less than obvious. One of the best we’ve read, and in retrospect the score should have breached the 20 mark.
